Serenia resides deep inside the inner chambers of t l k’s mind palace. A self-soothing, metaphysical landscape, the world of Serenia harbours the feeling of being held timelessly by a mother’s love, rooted in the non-linear nature of childhood grief. Serenia is an intricate portrait crafted around an improvised vocal take, delicately blended with soaring analogue synthesis and percussive textures built from the spines of a cactus. Interwoven granules, bass swells and ethereal vocal layers submerge the listener in a warm sound bath, rhythmically evolving through currents of intimate, fragmented memory, to a place of ultimate yielding.

The single is accompanied by animated artwork from the brain of lucid dreamer Alfie Dwyer (@ze.zima), who has become a household name in the Blender world, rendering surreal voyages into absurd and beautiful realms. With existing works for Adult Swim, Eric Andre, Sad Night Dynamite, Thundercat and Flying Lotus in his expansive portfolio, Alfie’s visual translation of Serenia encapsulates the dream-like, disoriented experience of organic memory, infused with the warm hues and gentle breath of maternal love.
